Regarding the start of collaboration with AGRIST Inc. on developing an automatic crop harvesting robot

2020.03.27

We have begun investing in and collaborating with AGRIST Inc. in developing an automatic harvesting robot for agricultural products.
By combining our farming-oriented photovoltaic power generation technology and automatic harvesting robot technology, we aim to build a model that can popularize renewable energy and solve agricultural problems.

Today, we formally announce that our company (President: Sugimori Tsutomu) has begun investing in and collaborating with AGRIST Inc. (Representative Director: Saito Junichi, hereinafter “AGRIST”), which is working on developing automatic harvesting robots for agricultural products through JXTG Innovation Partners GK (President: Yazaki Yasunori)*1.

Starting this year, we are working to popularize renewable energy through the business of agricultural-oriented power generation*2 as a new business field that will contribute to fostering a Decarbonized, recycling-oriented society.
AGRIST is a start-up company that works on solving problems, such as the aging of agricultural workers and the decline of rural areas due to labor shortages, by developing a crop harvesting robot.

In this collaboration, we aim to build a model that makes use of proliferating renewable energy technologies and addresses agricultural issues by combining the technologies of farming-oriented solar power generation and automatic harvesting robots.
Going forward, the two companies will jointly formulate an action plan and aim for facility development in the summer of 2020.

By solving both power generation and agricultural problems, we shall strive to contribute to developing a Decarbonized, recycling-oriented society as one component of the “2040 JXTG Group Long-term Vision”.
